To use the EPA testing software, just start the EPASTUDY.EXE program
and choose the test you would like to study. Everyone taking the EPA certification
exam must take the CORE test. The other additional tests are the Type I, II, and
type III certification tests. They are for appliances, low-pressure systems, and
high-pressure systems.

There are 25 questions on the official exams. The study guide provides about 70 - 80
questions for each section. The program will load the first question from the CORE
section and you can study CORE, or go to one of the other sections by selecting it from
the "listbox" in the upper left corner of the top window.

After selecting a different section to study, you use the "NEXT", or "PREV" push
buttons to move about the test questions within the specific test section of the database.
I use the "BOF" button, then I select "NEXT". That ensures that I go to the first question
in that section. BOF stands for "go to beginning of data file". The EOF button takes you to the end of
the data file. Do not mistake BOF or EOF for the beginning and end of the section you are studying.
The questions answered during your session will be kept track of at the top right side of the upper
window.

If you start studying another section, be sure to "reset score" at the upper right of top window.
If you make an incorrect choice, it can be reset, by pressing the "reset choice button". To reload the
question without affecting your score, press the "get/grade question" without giving your answer and
it will just reload the question. If you get the question wrong, a correct answer and most of the time, a
fairly good explanation will appear in the lower box. Press any key after reading the explanation and it will
dissappear. If you press "next" or "prev" and the graphic just below the test listbox says "no more
questions found" the search could not find any more questions for that test, however, it either went to the first or
last question in the question database and displayed that question instead. In this scenario, you will either
find yourself at question 1 or question 306 (last question in the file).

I suggest studying the question and only the correct answer. Don't even look at the other choices.
The other answers are just there to distract you from the correct one. Enjoy the program and good luck on the test.

I took the test at a heating and air-conditioning supply store (Jonestone Supply) in Waukesha, WI. They
give the test on the second Tuesday of every month and the cost is about $83.
